PARABLE:
As I drove thru several 100 miles of SC & NC back roads, I saw many fields
As I drove thru several 100 miles of SC & NC back roads, I saw many fields
literally "white for harvest", the words of Jesus in John 4:35.
As a country girl, I've been among cotton plants. My hands have bled
& itched from fierce thorn-likes husks that surround those white
balls-- NOT all sweet soft cotton like the store sells...
But Jesus's reaping parable meant more than just
going & easily plucking grapes. Sometimes, like with cotton plants,
it seems the crop "fights back".
Mocks, ignores, even threatens us.
Still, Christ invites us to be part of His Ministry...
Commands us (like at end of Matthew).
A mission that will bring Joy beyond description if, thru us, the LORD reaps the heart of yet another of the ALL He so dearly loves.
What does LORD God say ??
JOHN 3:16, of course! - "The World" = each person.
But in many OTHER places, God says He dearly loves ALL persons.
SO WHAT ??
We often hear
John 4 taught in church, of sending us to spread The Gospel.But Jesus's reaping parable meant more than just
going & easily plucking grapes. Sometimes, like with cotton plants,

He invites us to share His Truth with each one we meet.
2nd Peter 3:8 is one place telling that God
WANTS YOU TO REACH OUT TO THORNY, SHARP PEOPLE TOO:
"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness,
but is longsuffering toward us,
NOT willing that any should perish
but that all should come to repentance."
